Reports Alarming Habitat Loss in Great Plains
The grasslands of the Great
Plains are among the most imperiled ecosystems on the planet, according to a
recently released report by the World Wildlife Fund. Among the alarming statistics presented in
the 2016 Plowprint Report is that the
region lost more grassland to agriculture in 2014 than the Brazilian Amazon
lost to deforestation. Lauritzen Gardens
staff contribute to conservation efforts in the Great Plains by studying
endangered plants in their natural habitat to gain a better understand their
ecology and conservation needs. The WWF 2016 Plowprint Report can be accesses
