Discovery Tour (Available year-round)
Incredible outdoor
gardens provide an excellent opportunity for meeting educational standards in a
beautiful natural environment. Download and print pre-designed tour packets with
fun activities designed to meet grade specific learning standards as you lead
your students through the garden. The packets also include a suggested tour
route, map and information for the group's leader about each garden. Downloadable tour
resources are available near the bottom of this page.
Floral Display Hall Guided Tour with
Activity - (Available November through March for grades K-8)
Spend 30 minutes in
the classroom to complete an engaging activity and 30 minutes exploring the
plant life in the floral display hall.
Garden Guided Tour with Activity -
(Available April through October for grades K-8)
These tours highlight
outdoor garden areas of seasonal interest. Trained guides will lead educators
and children on a tour through a variety of ecosystems, incredible gardens and
natural landscapes. Either before the tour or
after, a trained guide will also lead educators and children through a
garden-themed activity.
PLEASE NOTE: This particular
tour will last TWO HOURS instead of 90 minutes like the rest of the tours that
we offer. ***This tour is ONLY for
students in K-8th grades.***

Green Studies Tours - (Available year-round)
If the focus of your
collegiate or high school course is botany, horticulture, landscape studies,
entomology or another related plant science (broad subjects such as biology
will not apply), then the green studies guided and self-guided tour options are
a great resource.
SPECIAL ONE DAY FESTIVALS
Goldenrod Festival - A Celebration of Native Plants and Animals | October 10, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Enjoy engaging stations run by multiple organizations with environmental
messages that will teach students about native plants and animals in the unique
setting that is Lauritzen Gardens. The following organizations are just a
few of those that are expected to attend: Keep Omaha Beautiful, No More Empty Pots,
Omaha Storm Water Program, Nebraska Extension 4-H, The Durham Museum, Lewis and Clark
National Historic Trail, The US Forest Service, and the US
Corps of Engineers. The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is geared
towards Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Arbor Day Festival for the Schools | April 22, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Celebrate the importance of trees, as well as other environmental
conservation messages, as groups participate in self-guided tours to
interactive stations staffed by conservation minded
organizations. Organizations that have participated in the past include:
City Sprouts, Keep Omaha Beautiful, Nebraska Extension Master Gardeners, Nebraska Game &
Parks Commission, Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society, Omaha's Henry
Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, The Crane Trust, OPPD, and Omaha Symphony. The festival runs
from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is geared towards K-5th grade.
