Art Exhibit: Mary Mancuso

Every Picture Tells A Story

February 24 through April 3, 2016
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

About the artist

Mary Mancuso grew up in Atkinson, Nebraska, which she calls an experience that greatly affected her art and her outlook. She obtained her art degree in painting from San Francisco State University in 1978, and currently lives in the Omaha area with her husband and two sons (when they aren't away at college).

Mary exhibits her art locally and elsewhere as time permits. She was a frequent exhibitor at Council Bluffs' Second Fridays, has participated as a solo exhibitor in the Nebraska Art Council's (NAC) Governor's Mansion exhibition program, and was one of the lucky artists to have her artwork selected and purchased for the Bellevue Veteran's Home under the NAC's "1% for Art Program." Other solo exhibitions have included such venues as the Immanuel Fine Arts Gallery at The Landing in Lincoln NE, the Lincoln Playhouse (twice) and The Creator Gallery in Chicago, Illinois. Unlike most artists who have very identifiable painting styles and approaches, Mary says her experience is quite the opposite. "Some meaningful experience is always what draws me to an idea and locks me in. In a nutshell, a painting is 'me telling a story' about that experience. The end result may not always be a success but the process never fails.  It's the only way I know how to paint."
