About the artist
Katrina
Methot-Swanson grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska and
currently resides in Omaha with her husband Paul and their two children, Shane
(13) and Liberty (10). She became interested in art at a young age- inspired by
her mother, who was a painter, and her dad, who would sketch on any scrap of
paper that he could find. Both parents encouraged her to follow her dream to
become an artist.
She
now has a studio in her home so she can paint any time that she wants and finds
importance in painting nearly every day. She will typically work on multiple
paintings at once, especially when she is working on a series. She is also an
avid photographer, often using photos as reference for her paintings.
Methot-Swanson is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, but
she now works mostly with oil paints. She enjoys the challenge and excitement
in working with color, texture and different subjects, putting a great deal of
detail to any canvas.
